Following a stellar performance at the Paris Paralympics, Ajeet Singh captured a silver medal in the F46 javelin throw event, underscoring a growing competitiveness within India's javelin throw circuit. This achievement was mirrored by Sundar Singh Gurjar, who took bronze, marking a significant double podium finish for India in athletics.
Ajeet's personal best throw of 65.62 meters earned him the silver, while compatriot Sundar, inspired by his Tokyo performance, secured bronze with a throw of 64.96 meters. The event's top honor went to Cuba's Guillermo with a throw of 66.14 meters. Speaking to ANI, Ajeet expressed his determination, having missed out on medals in Tokyo due to injury, and vowed to aim for gold in future competitions.
Reflecting on the competition, Ajeet mentioned the potential for a triple podium finish among Indian throwers, highlighting teammates like Rinku who finished fifth. He praised the intense internal competition, noting it as both a challenge and a motivation for athletes. Ajeet also acknowledged the crucial support from his family, fans, and teammates. The Indian contingent's medal tally has now reached 21, with hopes for further successes. Paralympian Sachin Khilari added to the tally with a silver in the men's shot put F46 event, marking another proud moment for India at the games.
