Everton FC's Ownership Transfer: Friedkin Group Acquires Moshiri's Stake
The Friedkin Group has reached an agreement with Blue Heaven Holdings for the purchase of Farhad Moshiri's majority stake in Everton FC. This deal follows a previous abandoned takeover attempt. The transaction requires regulatory approval and aims to ensure the club's stability and future developments, including the new stadium.
The Friedkin Group has confirmed an agreement with Blue Heaven Holdings to acquire Farhad Moshiri's majority stake in Everton FC, as announced on Monday. This move comes two months after initially abandoning plans for a takeover.
As majority owners of AS Roma, the Friedkin Group was in exclusive talks for the acquisition following a failed agreement with 777 Partners. The new deal now awaits approval from the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority.
"We are pleased to have reached an agreement to become custodians of this iconic football club," a spokesperson for the Friedkin Group stated, emphasizing their commitment to securing necessary approvals and stabilizing the club. Additionally, they plan to complete the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Despite this potential acquisition, the Friedkin Group assures that their focus on Serie A club Roma remains undiminished. Last week, they replaced Roma's head coach Daniele De Rossi with Ivan Juric amid fan uproar. They also emphasized that each club in their portfolio operates independently.
Dan and Ryan Friedkin clarified that the multi-club approach would benefit both Roma and Everton, asserting their dedication to seeing Roma compete at the highest levels of European football. Meanwhile, Everton had reportedly struggled under previous takeover conditions set by 777 Partners.
Everton finished 15th last season after a rough period, narrowly escaping relegation. Now, the team finds itself second-bottom of the table with just one point from five matches.
