In a gripping encounter, India narrowly lost to four-time champions Iran by a solitary goal in their second group match at the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers on Friday. Despite a resilient defense, India conceded a goal in the 88th minute, with Yousef Mazraeh breaching goalkeeper Priyansh Dubey's net.
The Blue Colts' performance was commendable against one of Asian football's powerhouses. With three points from two matches, India U20 remains in contention for a spot in the tournament proper, needing to secure a favorable result in their final match against hosts Laos.
The match saw an evenly contested first half, where India managed to keep Iran at bay and even launched several attacks. However, India's defensive resilience wavered towards the end, allowing Iran to clinch the victory and maintain their top position in Group G.
