Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam singles champion, announced that she will miss the remainder of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tour due to a back injury. The decision means she will withdraw from all upcoming tournaments, including the Hong Kong Open, which was set to commence on October 28.

The Hong Kong Open confirmed Osaka's withdrawal via its social media channels on Monday, while the WTA also made an official announcement on its website. Osaka has not competed since retiring from her fourth-round match against Coco Gauff at the China Open three weeks ago, due to back and abdominal injuries.

In response to a fan's question on Instagram last week, Osaka revealed that her injury was more severe than she initially thought. Although she hoped to participate in her home tournament in Tokyo, a title she won in 2019, she ultimately did not appear in the draw over the weekend.
