Rajat Patidar Takes the Helm: New Captain for RCB
Rajat Patidar has been appointed as the new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, succeeding Faf du Plessis. With a strong record in domestic cricket, Patidar has earned backing from former captain Virat Kohli. The upcoming IPL season will see him leading the team, supported by his RCB teammates.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have named 31-year-old Rajat Patidar as their new captain, succeeding South African Faf du Plessis, who exited the squad last year. This decision, backed by former RCB captain Virat Kohli, comes as Patidar consistently impressed with his on-field discipline and leadership qualities.
Patidar, retained by RCB in the mega auction of November 2024, previously led Madhya Pradesh in domestic tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His strong performances in these competitions, including guiding his team to the finals, have bolstered his leadership credentials.
The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, starting March 21, will be Patidar's debut as RCB's skipper. Kohli and the team fully support his captaincy, urging fans to rally behind him. Patidar, the second-highest run-scorer in the last Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, is expected to take RCB to new heights.
