Federica Brignone Triumphs in Sestriere Giant Slalom Double

Italy’s skiing sensation Federica Brignone clinched an impressive women’s World Cup giant slalom double in Sestriere on Saturday. In a dramatic twist, U.S. skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin failed to qualify for a second run, marking her first miss in the discipline since 2012.

On the podium, Brignone shone brightly, claiming her 34th World Cup victory and 16th in giant slalom after a sensational second run. Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami and New Zealand's Alice Robinson took the second and third positions, respectively, as the crowd cheered Brignone's blistering performance.

Despite a tough day for Shiffrin, who ended 33rd, Brignone's triumph extended her overall lead in the standings, bolstering her bid for the season's big crystal globe. Robinson, though leading the giant slalom standings, expressed exhaustion, planning to rest before her next challenge.
