Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain showcased her prowess by defeating Punjab's Krisha Verma with a unanimous decision in the 75kg weight category, setting up a highly anticipated clash against Uttar Pradesh's Sneha. The victory propels Lovlina into the penultimate round of the Elite Women's Boxing Tournament held in Telangana on Sunday.
Former youth world champion Ankushita Boro delivered an impressive performance on Day 2, advancing to the semifinals in the 65kg category with a decisive 5:0 win over Rajasthan's Parthvi. In the 51kg division, local hero Nikhat Zareen entertained fans in Hyderabad, securing a 5:0 victory over Kalpana and maintaining her dominant streak.
Organized by the Telangana Boxing Federation under the Boxing Federation of India and the Sports Authority of Telangana, the tournament features top athletes and rising stars. Preeti, Jyoti, and Devika Ghorpade booked semifinal spots with unanimous wins. The semifinals are scheduled for tomorrow at Hyderabad's Saroornagar Indoor Stadium.
