Olympic Boxer Suspended for Positive Doping Test

Lazizbek Mullojonov, Paris Olympic heavyweight boxing champion from Uzbekistan, has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for methasterone, a synthetic steroid. The International Testing Agency announced the initial test results, and Mullojonov has the option to request a B-sample analysis. The boxer has claimed multiple championship titles in recent years.

Paris Olympic heavyweight boxing champion Lazizbek Mullojonov finds himself at the center of a doping controversy following a positive test for a banned substance. The International Testing Agency revealed that the athlete tested positive for methasterone, a steroid known for enhancing muscle growth and strength.

The 26-year-old Uzbek boxer was tested out-of-competition on June 11. In accordance with protocol, Mullojonov has been informed of the test result and possesses the right to request the analysis of a B-sample. The confirmation of this initial result could solidify the anti-doping rule violation.

Should the confirmation occur, Mullojonov, who has collected numerous accolades, including a 2023 IBA World Boxing Championships bronze and a gold in the 2022 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships, will face serious repercussions. The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation has been contacted for an official statement.
