At the selection trials for the upcoming World Championships, Vaishnavi Patil made headlines with her exceptional speed and mat awareness. Competing fiercely, she secured her spot in the national team, a groundbreaking achievement considering her limited experience in major tournaments.
Coming from a family with modest means, Vaishnavi's journey from mud wrestling to representing India at an international level is remarkable. Inspired by Sakshi Malik's 2016 Olympic success, she began focusing on mat wrestling only in 2020, moving to Hisar for advanced training.
Her coach, Jasbeer, emphasized the significance of continuous training and dedication, which has helped her excel. Practicing with skilled wrestlers at the Sushil Kumar Akahada, Vaishnavi, previously a state-level swimmer, aspires to win an Olympic medal and continues her disciplined and determined pursuit of excellence.
