In a surprising turn of events, Argentina's national football team, spearheaded by renowned player Lionel Messi, will not make a visit to Kerala. This was confirmed on Monday by State Sports Minister V Abdurahiman, who had previously affirmed the impending visit.
Minister Abdurahiman had announced plans for the team to travel to Kerala, supported by government arrangements, and had stated that sponsors had already paid the required match fees. However, unforeseen difficulties arose, changing the course of events.
The Argentine football authorities communicated their inability to fulfill the October visit, despite the sponsors expressing their interest strictly for that month. The planned visit, which might have occurred in October or November, remains in limbo.
