The Archery Association of India (AAI) inaugurated the inaugural Archery Premier League in a grand ceremony held in New Delhi on Thursday. The event saw the division of 48 top archers among six franchise teams in a thrilling draft process, comprising 36 Indian and 12 international athletes.
These newly formed squads include the Prithviraj Yodhas, Mighty Marathas, Kakatiya Knights, Rajputana Royals, Chero Archers, and Chola Chiefs. The process involved eight rounds of selections, with each round featuring three compound and three recurve archers, ensuring balanced teams across the board.
The league, spearheaded by popular Indian actor and filmmaker Mr. Ram Charan as brand ambassador, aims to elevate archery's prominence in India. The inaugural season, scheduled between October 2 and October 12, promises an engaging spectacle, kicking off at the Yamuna Sports Complex in New Delhi.
