In a significant ruling, a motor accident claims tribunal has granted over Rs 38.64 lakh to the parents of Amar Yadav, a promising national-level handball player cut short in a tragic road accident in 2018.
Presiding Officer Arul Varma, overseeing the case, highlighted the responsibility of the tractor driver, who failed to provide evidence countering allegations of rash and negligent driving. This omission led the tribunal to deduce an adverse inference against the driver, holding him accountable for the crash.
The tribunal acknowledged Yadav's burgeoning sports career, underscoring the profound impact of his untimely death. The compensation, the tribunal ruled, should be paid by the vehicle's driver, owner, and insurance company, United India Insurance, with the insurer tasked with depositing the amount.
