Shubman Gill, India's T20I vice-captain, has been given the green light by the Sports Science team at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. Gill is set to play the opening T20I against South Africa after recovering from a neck injury he sustained during the Kolkata Test.

Selected in the squad subject to fitness, Gill has completed all rehabilitation protocols required for a Return To Play. His successful recovery was confirmed by the Centre of Excellence, communicated to the team management's Sports Science and Medicine unit.

Gill had suffered a neck whiplash during the Kolkata Test, which led to a hospital stay and treatment. Though he missed the ODI series, Gill's rehabilitation was successful, ensuring his presence for the T20 leg. The T20I players are set to convene in Cuttack for their first training session on Sunday.
