Historic Return: Dominguez Heads To Africa Cup At 42
Mozambique has included 42-year-old winger Dominguez in their Africa Cup of Nations squad, making him potentially the second-oldest player in the tournament's history. Despite being dropped earlier this year due to a visa issue, Dominguez was recalled and will face defending champions Ivory Coast on December 24.
In a stunning comeback, Mozambique has selected 42-year-old winger Dominguez for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, which begins later this month in Morocco. Dominguez recently celebrated his birthday and, if he plays, will become the second-oldest player to participate in the tournament.
Previously sidelined by coach Chiquinho Conde due to a late passport submission, Dominguez missed a critical World Cup qualifier in Egypt. However, he was recalled for recent friendlies and has managed to secure his place in the squad once again.
Mozambique, vying in Group F, will first confront defending champions Ivory Coast in Marrakech on December 24. The team aims to advance past the group stage for only the second time since 2010, a tournament Dominguez also participated in.
