Mason Greenwood was the hero as Olympique de Marseille overturned a deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 Champions League win over Union St Gilloise on Tuesday. The victory significantly enhances Marseille's prospects of advancing to the knockout stages, placing them in a stronger position within the league.

Union St Gilloise had taken an early lead when Anan Khalaili netted his first goal with a swift strike at the near post. However, Marseille quickly leveled the score with Igor Paixao capitalizing on a rebound from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's shot, which was only partially saved by goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.

Greenwood's prowess came to the fore as he scored twice, first combining well with Aubameyang and then turning his defender to extend the lead. Despite Khalaili's second goal narrowing the gap, Union's hopes of equalizing were dashed as two potential goals were ruled offside.
