Honnold's ascent marks a pioneering shift from his traditional rock climbing endeavors to man-made structures, with Taipei 101 standing as a former record-holder at 508 meters and currently Taiwan's tallest tower.
Honnold acknowledges the switch to climbing skyscrapers, describing it as less technically challenging but physically more exhausting due to repetitive motions. His main challenge lies in an overhanging section named the "bamboo boxes," demanding a strenuous effort across eight segments and intricate balconies.
