Harshal Pathak's appointment as the head coach of Nepal's women's national cricket team marks a significant step as announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal on Tuesday. Pathak's leadership is expected to enhance the national team's performance in forthcoming international events, focusing on player development and team readiness.

Previously at the helm of Thailand's men's cricket team, Pathak was chosen after the Cricket Association of Nepal publicized the opening. He will now guide the Nepali women's team at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier, scheduled to be held from January 18 to February 1 at home. Earlier this year, Nepal secured a spot in the global qualifier as the Asia Qualifier runner-up, falling behind Thailand, which topped the event.

Nepal's strategic chase of the UAE's 115-run target in 19.2 overs with five wickets down ensured a berth in the global qualifier. Captain Indu Barma led the charge with a top score of 33 runs. The UAE set a challenging first-innings total of 114 for 7, with notable contributions from their batters. Key performances from Manisha Upadhyay, Kabita Kunwar, and Rajmati Airee spearheaded Nepal's bowling effort, sealing their progress with a crucial victory.
