Kolkata Knight Riders' Record-Breaking IPL Auction Achievements
The Kolkata Knight Riders made headlines at the IPL auction, spending a record-breaking Rs 25.20 crore on Cameron Green and acquiring Matheesha Pathirana for Rs 18 crore. While Indian stars Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan went unsold, Delhi Capitals secured David Miller for Rs 2 crore.
The Indian Premier League auction witnessed a historic moment as Kolkata Knight Riders shattered records by purchasing Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for an unprecedented Rs 25.20 crore. The bidding war, predominantly against Chennai Super Kings, concluded in Kolkata's favor, making Green the priciest overseas player in IPL history.
Furthermore, the Knight Riders secured Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana at Rs 18 crore, following a fierce contest with other franchises. Despite such high-profile buys, not all players were in demand; Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan remained unsold despite their recent form.
Delhi Capitals managed a bargain by acquiring South African batter David Miller at his base price, while Quinton de Kock found his way back to Mumbai Indians. The auction, featuring 359 players, offered slots for both domestic and international cricket stars across the 10 participating franchises.
