Botafogo's Shake-up: Davide Ancelotti Ousted
Botafogo fired Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil's national team coach Carlo Ancelotti, just five months into his tenure as manager. The decision followed the team's failure to defend its titles and a sixth-place league finish. A successor for Ancelotti has not been announced yet.
In a surprising turn of events, Brazilian club Botafogo has dismissed Davide Ancelotti, son of national team coach Carlo Ancelotti, just five months after he assumed the managerial role. This move comes after Botafogo struggled in both the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian league campaigns.
The club, which concluded its season in sixth place, 16 points shy of the champions Flamengo, failed to replicate its previous successes. Its aspirations in the Copa Libertadores were also dashed by Ecuador's Liga de Quito in the round of 16.
Botafogo revealed in a statement that Ancelotti's departure was decided after a series of meetings. As of now, no announcement has been made regarding his replacement. Ancelotti, 36, brought over a decade of experience, having served alongside his father in various roles across top European clubs.
