In a significant move for both clubs, Atletico Madrid announced the acquisition of Obed Vargas, a promising 20-year-old midfielder from the Seattle Sounders. Vargas, who was born in Alaska and later became a naturalized Mexican citizen, has been signed by the Spanish club in a deal lasting until 2030.

Vargas honed his skills in the youth ranks of the Sounders and made his Major League Soccer debut in 2021, quickly establishing himself as the third youngest player in the competition's history.
