The anticipated transfer of World Cup champion N'Golo Kanté to Turkish football club Fenerbahce was abruptly halted, allegedly due to administrative errors committed by Saudi club Al-Ittihad. The deal, which involved Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri moving to Al-Ittihad, failed to materialize before the transfer window closed.
Fenerbahce stated that the mistakes were linked to incorrect entries in the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) by Al-Ittihad. They emphasized that these issues were beyond their control and highlighted their meticulous attention to detail in the transfer process.
Efforts to extend the transfer deadline were made, including discussions with FIFA, but ultimately, the procedures could not be completed. Despite the setback with Kanté, Fenerbahce continues to strengthen its squad with players like France's Mattéo Guendouzi, aiming for a Turkish league title.
