Brave Burton Albion gave Premier League side West Ham a scare before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat in extra time during the FA Cup clash on Saturday.
Despite Burton's battle against relegation in the third tier of English soccer, they matched their top-flight opponent's performance, nearly orchestrating an upset reminiscent of minor-league Macclesfield's win over titleholder Crystal Palace in the third round. However, it was West Ham that found a breakthrough in the fourth-round match held at the Pirelli Stadium, thanks to substitute Crysencio Summerville's goal in the 95th minute.
West Ham, also struggling with relegation fears this season, breathed a sigh of relief at the final whistle. The tension intensified with a red card for Freddie Potts six minutes following Summerville's goal, creating a nerve-wracking end to the fixture.
