Historic Triumphs for Norway at ISU Speed Skating Championships

Norway commemorated a historic day at the ISU Speed Skating World Championships, as Sander Eitrem and Ragne Wiklund claimed the men's and women's all-round titles, respectively. Their victories at Heerenveen's Thialf arena marked a significant milestone for Norway in the sport, with Wiklund breaking an 88-year-old drought for Norwegian women.

In an intense battle, Eitrem dethroned American defending champion Jordan Stolz in the men's category. Stolz, who started strong by winning the 500m and 5,000m races, could not maintain his lead as Eitrem proved superior in the 10,000m, showcasing endurance that outpaced Stolz, ultimately relegating him to fourth place.

Meanwhile, Wiklund surpassed Japanese legend Miho Takagi, concluding an illustrious career, to secure her victory. With impressive performances in the 3,000m and 5,000m, Wiklund's win was as much about breaking a personal barrier as it was about asserting Norway's dominance internationally. Other notable winners included Czech Metodej Jilek and Poland's Vladimir Semirunniy in the men's, and Dutch Marijke Groenewoud in the women's events.
