In a candid analysis, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers recommended that MS Dhoni should bat no lower than number six in the upcoming IPL season. Playing at number eight or nine underutilizes Dhoni's abilities, according to de Villiers, who believes his batting presence is key for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
As CSK readies for the IPL season beginning March 28, they are also planning a leadership transition. Sanju Samson has been brought in to succeed Dhoni, and is backed by cricketing icons Anil Kumble and De Villiers. They believe Samson's skills and background make him an ideal fit for CSK's leadership team.
Kumble highlighted CSK's decision to invest in future leadership with Samson, who resonates well with fans due to his impressive form, regional connections, and leadership experience with Rajasthan Royals. The focus remains on sustaining the legacy of Dhoni while smoothly transitioning to a new captaincy era.
