Harry Maguire's Triumphant Return to England Squad Ahead of World Cup
England's football manager Thomas Tuchel has recalled defender Harry Maguire to the national squad for upcoming friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan. The move, part of World Cup preparations, follows Maguire's stellar performances at Manchester United. Notably, the team will be divided into two squads to maximize player evaluation.
In a strategic move, England football manager Thomas Tuchel has brought defender Harry Maguire back to the national squad for this month's friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan. Announcing a 35-man roster on Friday, Tuchel is keenly focusing on upcoming World Cup preparations.
Maguire, who boasts 64 national caps, was left out of the 2024 European Championship lineup. However, his recent exceptional form with Manchester United, particularly under coach Michael Carrick, secured his return. 'Harry simply deserves it,' acknowledged Tuchel, noting Maguire's pivotal role in Manchester United's resurgence.
To maximize player assessment, Tuchel is splitting the squad into two for the consecutive friendlies. This also gives emerging talents like Kobbie Mainoo recognition. With additional warm-up matches scheduled against New Zealand and Costa Rica, England's eyes are firmly set on the World Cup hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
