Palestinian National Team's Friendly Matches Canceled Amid Middle East Conflict

The Palestinian national football team's planned friendly matches against Mauritania and Benin, scheduled to take place in Morocco, have been officially canceled. The Palestine Football Association announced the cancellation, attributing it to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East that have caused significant travel disruption.

This decision follows widespread travel difficulties in the region after U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran impacted air traffic through key Gulf transit hubs, prompting airport closures on security grounds. Coach Ihab Abu Jazar's team was set to play Benin on March 27 and Mauritania four days later as part of their preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup.

The PFA expressed concerns over travel logistics and cited the safety of players and staff as a priority. Most Palestinian squad members, currently playing in Gulf leagues, are particularly affected by the unstable travel conditions. Football activities in the broader region have also faced disruptions.
