Reports: Cowboys to decline option on WR Williams

The Dallas Cowboys have elected to take a pass on wide receiver Terrance Williams and declined his 2019 contract option, a move that will make the speedy play maker a free agent in March, multiple outlets reported Monday. Williams played in just three September games in 2018 because of a foot injury and a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder was reduced to two catches for 18 yards.

In six seasons, all with the Cowboys, the 29-year-old Williams has 232 receptions for 3,377 yards and 20 touchdowns. The former third-round draft pick in 2013 out of Baylor caught a career-best 53 passes in 2017, while his 840 yards in 2015 were his most in any one year. In 2012 at Baylor, Williams led the nation with 1,832 receiving yards. His 97 receptions that season were 11th best in the nation.
