Epic Showdown: Vissel Kobe Battles Al-Sadd in Asian Champions League Quarter-Finals
Vissel Kobe's coach, Michael Skibbe, gears up for a crucial match against Roberto Mancini's Al-Sadd in the Asian Champions League quarter-finals. Kobe seeks its first Asian title, while Mancini aims to build on Al-Sadd's recent victory over Al-Hilal. Both teams are set for an intense showdown.
Michael Skibbe, the coach of Vissel Kobe, is eagerly anticipating a challenging test for his team as they face Roberto Mancini's Al-Sadd in the Asian Champions League quarter-finals on Thursday. Kobe, who clinched the Japanese title in 2023 and 2024, eyes their maiden Asian title against the Qatari side that recently overcame four-time champions Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia.
"Al-Sadd will be a formidable opponent, as witnessed two days ago," Skibbe remarked, during his debut season with Kobe after a four-year stint at Sanfrecce Hiroshima. "This match promises to be compelling for us." He emphasized the rarity of encountering such high-caliber opposition from western Asia, particularly given the distances from regional competitors in Japan, Korea, and China.
Kobe and Al-Sadd are among eight contenders remaining in Jeddah, competing in the centralized finals series. Mancini, meanwhile, focuses on his squad's recovery after their exhausting fight against Al-Hilal, a match that saw Al-Sadd equalize three times before triumphing in a penalty shootout. The stage is set for an exciting clash in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea port city.
