World number one Jannik Sinner advanced to the Madrid Open final after defeating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4 on Friday. Sinner's victory maintains his pursuit of a record fifth consecutive ATP Masters 1000 title, having already secured wins in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo.
The 24-year-old Italian marked his 27th victory at the Masters 1000 level, becoming only the fourth player to reach all nine ATP Masters 1000 finals, alongside Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal. Sinner expressed his satisfaction with his performance during an on-court interview.
In his quest for a second clay-court title this season, Sinner displayed commanding baseline play mixed with deft drop shots. Despite Fils offering resistance in the second set, Sinner clinched the match in 85 minutes and is set to face either Alexander Zverev or Alexander Blockx in the final.
