India's U17 football team is gearing up for their fourth continental foray this year, with a crucial match against Australia in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U17 Asian Cup 2026. The competition, being held at the King Abdullah Sports City Pitch C, witnesses India grouped with Australia and Uzbekistan, following DPR Korea's sudden exit.

Experienced head coach Bibiano Fernandes, who led India in the 2018 and 2023 AFC campaigns, maintains a steady strategy for this tournament. Despite varied experiences, his focus remains on strategic preparation and team guidance. 'Each tournament is unique but expectations are consistent. Staying calm and prepared is key,' Fernandes told the-aiff.com.

Facing formidable three-time semi-finalists Australia, the Indian team is focused on execution. 'Australia plays with intensity and discipline. Our goal is to remain organized, make tactical decisions, and seize opportunities,' emphasized Fernandes. After extensive practice against international teams, captain Dallalmoun Gangte is ready to lead, stressing the importance of mental readiness and strategy for India to advance toward the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2026.
