Golden Tempo's Derby Win and the Quest for Belmont Glory
Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will bypass the Preakness Stakes, allowing the horse more time to recover after its historic victory. Trainer Cherie DeVaux, the first woman to train a Derby winner, is prioritizing the horse's well-being as they set their sights on the Belmont Stakes scheduled for June 6.
Golden Tempo, the Kentucky Derby champion, will not compete in the upcoming Preakness Stakes, as confirmed by trainer Cherie DeVaux. This decision follows Saturday's thrilling victory at Churchill Downs.
The colt, which made history by winning the 152nd Derby under DeVaux's training, will now prepare for the Belmont Stakes. DeVaux stated that the well-being of Golden Tempo remains the top priority.
The choice to skip Preakness ends hopes of a Triple Crown contender this year, but DeVaux remains grateful for the widespread support the team received following the exhilarating Derby triumph.
