Jannik Sinner's Historic Tennis Triumph
Jannik Sinner continues to break records, advancing to the Italian Open quarterfinals with his 31st consecutive Masters Series victory, equaling Novak Djokovic's record. Sinner remains undefeated in the Masters Series since October. His victory streak and impressive performance suggest he might claim a historic win in Rome.
Jannik Sinner is making history yet again. The top-ranked tennis player secured a spot in the Italian Open quarterfinals on Tuesday by defeating qualifier Andrea Pellegrino 6-2, 6-3. This victory marked Sinner's 31st consecutive Masters Series win, matching Novak Djokovic's 2011 record.
Unbeaten in Masters Series events since last October, Sinner has won five straight Masters titles. With the top competition, Carlos Alcaraz, sidelined by injury, Sinner is well-positioned to clinch the Rome trophy, joining Novak Djokovic as one of the few to win all nine Masters 1000 events.
Alongside Sinner's journey, the women's tournament saw Sorana Cirstea, at 36, reaching the semifinals. Cirstea's victory over Jelena Ostapenko places her as the second-oldest WTA 1000 clay-court semifinalist, showcasing that age is no barrier to ambition in this highly competitive sport.
