Leeds United Cracks Down on Homophobic Chanting
Leeds United will impose lengthy stadium bans on supporters responsible for homophobic chanting during their match against Brighton. The club reiterates its zero-tolerance policy on discrimination in football. Extra cameras have been installed to identify culprits, following a hefty fine earlier this year for a similar incident.
Leeds United has announced that it will hand out lengthy stadium bans to fans responsible for homophobic chanting during Sunday's 1-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road. The Premier League club stressed its commitment to eradicating discriminatory abuse from football and stated that extra cameras would be used to help identify those involved.
In anticipation of the match, the club had already issued a reminder about their zero-tolerance policy. A similar incident in March 2023 during a match against Brighton had previously led to a £150,000 fine from the Football Association and a mandatory action plan for the club.
Leeds, led by Daniel Farke, extended their unbeaten league streak to eight matches with a late goal from striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
