The 34-year-old EF Education-EasyPost rider showcased remarkable sprinting ability, breaking away from Movistar's Einer Rubio in the last kilometre of the challenging 200km phase, which featured steep climbs and rapid descents.

Valgren held off a competitive chase group to secure his first Grand Tour stage win. Meanwhile, fellow Dane Jonas Vingegaard preserved his substantial lead in the general standings.
