Elena Rybakina, seeded second, faced an unexpected defeat against 55th-ranked Yuliia Starodubtseva of Ukraine in the French Open's second round. In a match that ended 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4), Rybakina's earlier success at the Australian Open seemed distant as Starodubtseva emerged victorious.

This match marked a significant triumph for Ukrainian tennis, with Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk also advancing. Both players carried momentum, having recently won titles at the Madrid Open and Italian Open, respectively. Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek added another win to her impressive Roland Garros record, defeating 35th-ranked Sara Bejlek and preparing to face compatriot Magda Linette.

Elsewhere, Belinda Bencic secured a win over Caty McNally, and fans awaited Novak Djokovic's match against Valentin Royer, alongside Alexander Zverev's night session game against Tomas Machac at the iconic Court Philippe-Chatrier.
