Brazilian football superstar Neymar is dealing with a calf injury, posing challenges for his scheduled participation in Brazil's World Cup opener against Morocco. The forward, who is part of Brazil's 26-man squad, is expected to miss the opening game after sustaining the injury during training.
Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed that Neymar's recovery could take up to three weeks. The injury was identified in medical tests conducted at Granja Comary. Despite this setback, the coaching staff, led by Carlo Ancelotti, remains hopeful about his return later in the tournament.
The Brazilian squad, which also includes Haiti and Scotland in the same group, is preparing to start its World Cup journey on June 13 in New Jersey. Neymar was called up for his fourth World Cup after returning from Saudi Arabia to play for Santos but has only seen limited action this season.
FIFA regulations permit squad adjustments, allowing Neymar to be replaced by June 1 or up to a day before their first match. Brazil aims to monitor his condition closely, focusing on his rehabilitation in the coming weeks.
