Cadillac's F1 Breakthrough Dashed by Post-Race Penalty
Cadillac missed scoring their first point in Formula One at the Monaco Grand Prix after a post-race penalty demoted Sergio Perez from 10th to 15th place. The penalty was due to Perez's car being incorrectly positioned for a race restart. Fernando Alonso was elevated to 10th place, earning points for Aston Martin instead.
In a dramatic twist at the Monaco Grand Prix, Cadillac's hopes of earning their first Formula One point were dashed after officials handed Sergio Perez a post-race penalty. The penalty moved him from 10th to 15th place in the final standings.
Stewards penalized Perez after video evidence indicated that his car was improperly aligned during a race restart. The rule breach came when his front-right wheel was found outside the designated starting box, resulting in a standard penalty being applied.
This penalty marked Perez's second error of the day, following a prior issue where he mistakenly took an empty grid spot, earning a drive-through penalty. As a result, Fernando Alonso claimed 10th place, granting Aston Martin its first point of the season.
