Alpine's Fight for Justice in Monaco Grand Prix

The Alpine Formula One team cleared the initial hurdle on Thursday in its challenge to the Monaco Grand Prix penalties meted out for pit lane speeding, which cost Pierre Gasly a podium finish.

Stewards acknowledged new evidence not available during the initial decision-making last Sunday, allowing the review to advance. As the focus shifts to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, Renault-owned Alpine presented fresh data indicating prior awareness of timing loop inaccuracies by both FIA and Formula One Management, though not by the stewards.

Alpine's evidence showed that Gasly adhered to pit lane speed limits, and with inaccurate timing distances provided by the Official Timekeeping Supplier, it argues the penalties should be reconsidered. Though Gasly finished third on the track, penalties pushed him to seventh, leaving him devastated over missing a Monaco podium in his home race.
