Serena Williams is poised to make a competitive return to the U.S. Open, competing in the mixed doubles category after being granted a wildcard entry alongside defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz, according to tournament organizers.
This appearance represents Williams' first competitive match at the U.S. Open since 2022. The legendary American, who has secured 23 Grand Slam singles titles and six U.S. Open victories, previously clinched the mixed doubles crown in 1998 with Max Mirnyi.
Meanwhile, world number one Aryna Sabalenka is set to partner with Serbia's Novak Djokovic, while Jessica Pegula will team up with fellow American Taylor Fritz in the mixed doubles competition.
