All Blacks Strengthen Squad Amid Injuries on South Africa Tour
New Zealand's rugby team, the All Blacks, called up experienced prop Ofa Tu’ungafasi and newbie lock Jamie Hannah to their South African tour squad after injuries sidelined Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord. Both players sustained head injuries during a match against the Springboks and must clear concussion protocols.
New Zealand's rugby squad, the All Blacks, has bolstered its South African tour lineup following injuries to two key players. Veteran prop forward Ofa Tu’ungafasi and promising lock Jamie Hannah have been called up as replacements after Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord suffered head injuries in their recent test match win over the Springboks.
De Groot and Lord were taken off the field during the first half of the match at Ellis Park, which ended in a 33-16 victory for New Zealand. The players are currently undergoing the World Rugby concussion protocols, which are likely to keep them out of the second test next week in Cape Town.
Tu’ungafasi, 34, a seasoned player with World Cup experience, and Hannah, who recently debuted against France, are set to arrive in South Africa at the start of the week. The All Blacks have already made four player replacements during the initial two weeks of their intensive six-week, eight-match tour.
