Wizards cut ties with Robinson after arrest

The Washington Wizards announced on Saturday they will not make a qualifying offer to free agent forward Devin Robinson after he was apparently arrested late Friday. The team did not disclose what led to Robinson's arrest in their statement.

"We are aware of the incident this morning involving Devin and are disappointed in his actions. We will not extend a qualifying offer to him for the 2019-20 season," it read. According to Washington Post reporter Candace Buckner, who covers the Wizards, Robinson was involved in an altercation with Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills at a nightclub.

"Devin Robinson was detained after getting into a fight with Philadelphia Eagles player Jalen Mills at the Opera nightclub, The Post has learned," Buckner tweeted Saturday afternoon. NBC4 Washington says Robinson was hospitalized with injuries incurred during the fight and that both players were charged with disorderly affray.

Robinson has played in eight career games with the Wizards, seven last season and one the year prior, and averaged 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game in those contests. Mills was a seventh-round pick by the Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft. In three seasons with Philadelphia, he has 167 tackles and three interceptions in 39 games (25 starts).
