Rangers place SS Andrus (hamstring) on IL
The Texas Rangers placed shortstop Elvis Andrus on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right hamstring strain. The two-time All-Star sustained the injury while running out a ground ball during the seventh inning of Tuesday night's 11-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals.
Andrus, 30, is batting .325 with six homers, 26 RBIs and 25 runs scored in 38 games this season. He is having a nice bounce-back season after missing 65 games and batting a career-worst .256 in 2018.
The Rangers, who have lost five in a row, made three other moves before Wednesday night's game in Kansas City. Outfielder Willie Calhoun and left-hander Jeffrey Springs were recalled from Triple-A Nashville, and right-hander Wei-Chieh Huang was optioned to Nashville.
