Donovan Solano scored the go-ahead run from second base Wednesday night when Padres centre fielder Wil Myers lost Pablo Sandoval's two-out, high fly to centre in the dusk, leading the visiting San Francisco Giants to a 7-5 victory over slumping San Diego. San Francisco scored 30 runs on 40 hits while sweeping the three-game series. The Giants have won four straight. The Padres have lost four straight at home.

The Padres held a 4-3 lead before the Giants scored four runs in the sixth, all against reliever Luis Perdomo (1-1) with two outs. All seven of the Giants' runs in the game scored with two outs. The game-winning rally started with one out when Kevin Pillar was hit by a pitch after Perdomo thought the Giants centre fielder had called time out. One out later, Solano doubled home Pillar with the tying run.

Sandoval then hit a high fly to straightaway centre that Myers lost in the sky with Solano scoring from second. Brandon Belt then doubled home Sandoval and scored on Austin Slater's single. The Giants scored three runs in the third inning against San Diego starter Cal Quantrill on back-to-back homers by Evan Longoria and former Padre Alex Dickerson, a San Diego County native. Longoria's two-run homer was his fourth long ball of the series. The back-to-back homers were the first set hit by the Giants this season.

Run-scoring singles by Myers and Austin Hedges capped a four-hit, two-run San Diego second. The Padres tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Hunter Renfroe, and they took a 4-3 lead in the fourth on rookie Fernando Tatis Jr.'s second-deck homer to left off Giants starter Shaun Anderson.

Renfroe hit his 25th homer in the eighth for the Padres' final run. Anderson allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk in four innings. Trevor Gott (5-0) worked a perfect fifth to earn the win, and Will Smith tossed a perfect ninth for his 22nd save.

Quantrill gave up three runs on five hits and a walk in 4 1/3 innings.
