Saturday's game was a costly one for both the Milwaukee Brewers and host Pittsburgh Pirates, as both teams lost a player to injury in the later innings. First, Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson left in the top of the seventh inning with what the team called right groin discomfort after he made a running catch on a fly ball.

Yasmani Grandal sent a ball to shallow left that Dickerson ran in on to grab, but the outfielder then seemed to favour his right leg. He did not dive or appear to slip, but the outfield was wet after a large amount of rain earlier. The team immediately removed him from the game, moving Bryan Reynolds from right field to left and bringing Melky Cabrera in to play right and take Dickerson's spot in the batting order. Cabrera later hit a home run in the Pirates' 12-2 victory.

Then, Brewers shortstop Orlando Arcia has carted off the field in the eighth inning because of an unspecified injury following a collision with second baseman Keston Hiura as the two were going for a ground ball. Both remained on the turf for a couple of moments. Hiura got up, but Arcia was attended to for several minutes before he sat up, and then slowly was helped into the back of a cart. He was sitting upright as he was driven off the field. Dickerson was 1-for-3 in the game, breaking a 1-1 tie with an RBI double in the first and later scoring on a Kevin Newman single to finish off a four-run first.

Dickerson, 30, entered the game hitting .274 with two home runs, 17 RBIs and 10 runs scored in just 27 games played. He suffered a shoulder injury after only four games this season and returned to action June 8, missing 58 games. Arcia was 1-for-3 in the game. The 24-year-old has a .240 average with a dozen home runs, 37 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
