Report: Little chance of Clowney-Texans agreement
While the deadline for franchise-tagged players to come to terms with NFL teams is still several days away, the chances of Jadeveon Clowney reaching an agreement with the Houston Texas are all but gone, according to the Houston Chronicle. On Twitter, the Chronicle's Aaron Wilson cited sources as saying "no deal happening prior to July 15 NFL deadline," and while the Pro Bowl linebacker, is "not expected to miss any games," he is "likely to miss at least a major portion of camp."
Federer wary of fresher, stronger Nishikori
Roger Federer believes his Wimbledon quarter-final opponent Kei Nishikori is ready to challenge for Grand Slams after the Japanese number one seems to have found a way to reach the latter stages without getting tangled up in marathon matches. For the fourth time in his career, the eighth-seeded Japanese has dropped one set or less en route to the quarter-finals of a major championship.
NFL notebook: On audio, Chiefs' Hill heard denying assault
In a full version of an audio recording aired by a Kansas City radio station on Tuesday, Chiefs star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is heard denying assaulting his fiancee, although Hill pleaded guilty to an assault and battery charge in 2015. Dan Graziano of ESPN reported that NFL investigators have already heard the full recording and are including that in deciding any potential discipline to be levied on Hill.

Indians' Bieber shines at home to help American League past National League again
Shane Bieber went from a late addition in the 90th All-Star Game to an MVP performance as the American League held on to defeat the National League 4-3 at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Tuesday for its seventh consecutive victory in the showcase game. The Cleveland Indians right-hander was added to the roster on Friday and told Monday by AL manager Alex Cora that he would pitch the fifth inning. He struck out the side to preserve a 1-0 lead.

Johanna Konta played almost perfect tennis for the opening five games of her Wimbledon quarter-final against unseeded Czech Barbora Strycova on an expectant Centre Court on Tuesday. According to multiple reports, Westbrook signed off on general manager Sam Presti taking trade offers. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) introduced a bill Tuesday preventing the federal government from providing funding for the 2026 FIFA World Cup until the United States Soccer Federation agrees to equal pay for its men's and women's national teams. "No federal funds may be appropriated or otherwise made available to provide support for the 2026 World Cup, including support for a host city, a participating State or local agency, the United States Soccer Federation, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), or the Federation de Football Association (FIFA), until the date on which the United States Soccer Federation agrees to provide equitable pay," the bill reads.

Olympic sprint great Usain Bolt sees struggle ahead for Jamaica's men at the world championships, claiming the Caribbean nation's "spoiled" young sprinters lack the discipline to train and the hunger for success. Bolt, who won eight Olympic gold medals and led Jamaica through a golden era in sprinting, said he felt motivation levels had fallen since his retirement after the London world championships in 2017.
