Capitals re-sign LW Stephenson to one-year deal

The Washington Capitals announced Saturday that left-wing Chandler Stephenson re-signed with the team. The one-year deal is worth $1.05 million and leaves the Capitals just over the $81.5 million salary cap.

Stephenson, 25, was scheduled for an arbitration hearing on Aug. 1. A third-round draft pick by the Capitals in 2012, Stephenson has 11 goals and 18 assists in 144 career games. Last season, Stephenson had five goals and six assists in 64 games.

With the signing, the Capitals now have all their roster spots filled and all potential free agents under contract.
