Mets' McNeil to get MRI on hamstring

New York Mets All-Star sparkplug Jeff McNeil was scheduled for an MRI Thursday in Atlanta after feeling "a little snag" in his left hamstring in Wednesday's loss to the Braves. McNeil suffered the injury running to first base, trying to beat out a groundball in the ninth inning.

After slamming his helmet to the ground, he was helped off the field by a trainer. McNeil, 27, is batting .332 (third in the National League) with 31 doubles, 15 homers, and 55 RBIs in 105 games this season. Versatile in the field, he has started games this season at second base, third base, left the field and right field.

He was probably headed for a stint on the 10-day injured list, team officials told MLB Network. Infielder Ruben Tejada, 29, would likely be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to replace McNeil on the roster.
