iPhone rumors this year point to a new generation that will be prepared to terrorize your wallet. Bloomberg says Apple seems less interested in getting more people to buy iPhones than in raising the average price of their phones.

That means that the big price increase that we saw with the launch of the iPhone X last year could reach other new models. But it could also mean that the design of the edge-to-edge screen and the Face ID will also reach the lower-end iPhone models. It's going to be expensive, but modern.

According to unconfirmed leaks, Apple will launch three new iPhones this year. Apparently, one will have a 5.8-inch OLED screen without frames, with Face ID, stainless steel edges and in general, the same design as the iPhone X, including the two-lens camera vertically oriented on the glass backrest.

According to the leaks, another iPhone will arrive with a 6.5-inch OLED screen without bevels, which would be the largest screen Apple has installed on an iPhone, and will also include Face ID, stainless steel edges, glass back and camera double.

The third new iPhone is, perhaps, the most interesting. This model will have a 6.1-inch LCD screen without bezels, face identifier, glass back and aluminum edges. That means it will basically work and it will look like a slightly larger iPhone X, but the cheaper materials should give it a lower price.

Specification

The race of manufacturers about who has the best specifications on their smartphones is very close to the present. Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Note 9 with some surprising numbers and, according to rumors, the new line of the iPhone will compete with specifications like these. We could expect a faster processor, more RAM, bigger batteries and better screens.

Multiple leaks from the supply chain indicate that the next iPhones will include a new A12 processor, manufactured by Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), Apple's long-time supplier. These seven-nanometer chips would be significantly smaller than the 10-nanometer A11 processors currently on the iPhone X and iPhone 8.

Apparently, they will also be 10% faster, according to Geekbenchbenchmarks in June. This chip technology update could also make new iPhones use battery power more efficiently.

Those benchmarks also indicated that the OLED iPhone will come with 4 GB of RAM, above 3 GB in the iPhone X.

Face ID

If the previous rumors are correct, all the new iPhones will come with Face ID. This could make some enthusiasts nervous since the TrueDepth cameras running Face ID caused some delays in the manufacture of the iPhone X last year. Since then, Apple has invested almost USD 1 billion to expand its camera module business and accelerate the supply, while preparing for new iPhones and, perhaps, a new iPad with Face ID.

All that said, do not expect big changes in Face ID. Some analysts have predicted that Apple will have a second generation TrueDepth module that would reduce the size of the iPhone, but that rumor has not been corroborated. Considering the delays of last year's iPhone, it makes sense for Apple to be safe with Face ID this year.
