Telegram now lets you record video/audio from live broadcasts

With this update, admins can now record live streams and video chats to share the recordings with those who missed the live events. To start a recording, open the broadcast menu and then choose options to record Video and Audio or Only Audio. For video recording, you have to choose an orientation - Portrait or Landscape. When the recording ends, the file will be instantly uploaded to your Saved Messages.

Telegram has released a new update that brings the ability to record video as well as audio from live broadcasts. The latest update also introduces new themes for individual chats, interactive emoji with fullscreen effects and more features.

With this update, admins can now record live streams and video chats to share the recordings with those who missed the live events. To start a recording, open the broadcast menu and then choose options to record Video and Audio or Only Audio. For video recording, you have to choose an orientation - Portrait or Landscape. Secondly, the update brings eight new themes for individual chats that you can apply to specific private chats. To set a theme for your chat, tap the Chat Header > three-dot icon > Change Colors. The theme will also be visible to your chat partners if they are using the latest version of Telegram.

The update introduces interactive emoji with fullscreen effects. All you need to do is send a single emoji to any chat and then tap on it to unleash a fullscreen effect. The animations and vibrations will play simultaneously on both devices if both you and your chat partner have the chat window open.

This update also includes a "read receipts" feature for groups. Group messages will be marked as read (double-tick) as soon as one other member sees them. In small groups, you can now also select a message you sent to see which group members have read it. Telegram said that the read receipts in groups are only stored for a week after the message was sent.

"To protect users' privacy, read receipts in groups are only stored for 7 days after the message was sent. It is not Telegram's business to keep a record of everything you've ever seen," the company wrote in a blog post on Sunday.
