Google has increased the number of users you can add to a space in Google Chat from 8,000 to 50,000. This expanded participants limit will be useful for company-wide announcements, event-oriented spaces, large communities within companies, and support-related spaces.

Large spaces are gradually rolling out to both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains and may take up to 15 days for the feature to be fully visible to all eligible users.

"We hope this feature not only helps increase connectivity and sense of belonging but also creates broader and more thriving communities within your organizations," Google wrote in a blog post.

In addition, Google is adding the ability for Chat users to easily search for members within a space. If a member is present, you can change their role and if a member is not present, you can add the member to the space.

For Google Chat web users, the rollout of the new member search feature within a space will begin with Rapid Release domains on July 20, 2023. For Scheduled Release domains, the feature will be gradually rolled out to users over a period of up to 15 days, starting on August 3, 2023.

The feature will then be gradually introduced to mobile users, starting with Android devices on August 7, 2023, and finally reaching iOS devices on August 28, 2023. The feature will be available to all users over a period of up to 15 days.
